The Visit of a Gospel Choir

With the arrival of the St. Therese Catholic Church Gospel Choir from Seattle you might say the music for the week was soul-full. They arrived a week ago and left today. Just before their bus departed this morning...and right at coffee break time...they gathered around the piano in the dining hall and gave an impromptu and rousing rendition of "Every Time I Turn Around, God Has a Place for Me."

In the course of the week, they had become a vital part of community life and the worship services, whether they were singing as members of the assembled congregation or as a separate choir. On Friday night after the vespers service, they performed in concert and had the audience on its feet, singing, and clapping.

Today we sent them down the mountain road to the boat with a basket of just-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookies. It was our only chance of being their equals!
